Assessing QT when Drugs have a Substantial Effect on Heart Rate

ERT’s Dr. Borje Darpo illustrates one method for handling QT assessment for drugs with a substantial effect on heart rate (HR) by examining the results of a thorough QT study on omadacycline, an oral antibiotic. Several HR correction methods were used, including QTcI derived from a broad range of heart rates at baseline. All methods were then tested for their ability to remove the HR dependence of QTc on placebo and on-treatment.
